Did you know that Sour Patch Kids were originally called "Mars Men" as the original candies were molded in the shape of space aliens? Originally created around 1970, an employee for Jaret International named Frank Galatolie came up with the idea of combining a gummi candy with a soury sugar creating what would later become one of the best selling candies of all time. Cabbage Patch Kids dolls were exceedingly popular in the 1980s and are believed to be the inspiration for product's new name.
